Handmade Halloween Treat Bags - part 1 - Making Bag

I made 2 Halloween bags and decorated them with a different Halloween picture on each side. You can decide on just one picture for each bag if you like.

Today I will show you how to make the basic orange bag. In my next posting (tomorrow ) I will show you how to make the individual Halloween pictures. The Halloween pictures on these bags are a design variation taken from my Halloween cards.

See pictures bellow with instructions on how to make basic orange bag:

You will need 3 x A4 paper to make 1 bag (and double sided tape).

Take first orange A4 paper and put a double side along its 3 edges as shown in the picture above.

Take 2nd orange A4 card paper and cut in the middle. Then make a fold in the middle of both pieces of paper as shown in the picture above.

Attach one of the 2 folded papers to the right edge and the other one to the left edge of the 1st A4 paper using the previously attached double sided tape. See picture above and bellow.

Remove the cover film from the remaining piece of the double side tape on A4 paper.

Now you have both pieces of paper (cut from the 2nd A4 paper) attached to the 1st A4 paper. Take double sided tape again and  put it along 3 edges as shown in the picture above (over the cut pieces of paper from the 2nd A4 paper).

Attach 3rd A4 orange paper to the 1st A4 paper and the 2 pieces of 2nd A4 paper. At this stage you will be left with flaps on each side of the nearly finished bag. Secure them together using a piece of double sided tape. See picture above.

At this stage your bag with have a pointy bottom and would not stand very well. Attach double sided tape alongside the bottom of the bag (on one of its sides). At this stage do not remove the cover film of the double sided tape. Bend the end of the bag as shown in the picture above. Then remove the cover film of the double sided tape and secure the bend edge to the side of the bag.

If you like you can cut edges of the bag using edger scissors to create that wavy effect or you can just leave it straight.

Do not worry about the decorations on the bag in the picture above. I just wanted to show you the next step of making the bag. Notice that the bag is bent about 4 or 5 cm from the bottom edge. This will give you a crease point that you will need for the next step.

Put your hand in the bag and carefully stretch it open. See picture above.

Using your hand carefully push right and left sides of the bottom of the bag out as shown in the picture above.
